Music Opportunities
There are numerous opportunities at MGLC
to share your musical talents!
Our mission is to create and maintain meaningful worship experiences in the Lutheran tradition for all age groups, and encourage regular attendance and active participation in our family of faith. By doing so we strive to make and nurture disciples of all ages.
Children's Choirs
Our Cherub Choir and Praise Singers are wonderful vehicles for planting God’s word in your child through music and lyrics that will captivate their hearts. Both choirs sing during worship services monthly (Oct – May), and at some of the special, festive services. New children are always welcome to join us as we offer up our voices in praise and worship – it’s never too late!
Cherub Choir
Available for our youngest singing members, the Cherub Choir is a wonderful way to introduce music and God’s love to your child. Rehearsal time is filled with singing fun songs, learning songs to enhance worship at MGLC, and sometimes playing games. The children have a great time getting to know each other! Our director, Tami Waataja, comes with a heart for Jesus and plenty of room in there for children!! She started volunteering in the Children's Ministry when she was in 9th grade! She was the Children's Ministry Assistant for 8 years at Lutheran Church of the Master.
Ages: 4 years through 1st grade
Rehearsals: Sundays, 10:00 -10:40 a.m.

Praise Singers
Our elementary-age choir sings lots of exciting songs that are ‘rich’ in scripture! Our songs are often supplemented with additional elements including choreography, narration, sign-language, visual arts/dance or even ‘stomp’ accompaniment. Suzanne Hanson, director, loves working with the elementary ages and always challenges herself to bring new elements of fun to the choir. She has directed the Praise Singers for 7 years and also directs our summer Musical Theatre Camp.
The mission of Praise Singers is to help children:
-
Grow Spiritually – by learning songs ‘rich’ in scripture which gets planted in their hearts and minds.
-
Grow Musically – in the understanding of musical concepts and Christian music heritage.
-
Grow Socially – interacting with other children who share the love of music and their love of Christ.
-
Serve our Congregation – by developing and contributing their talents in service to God, and leading others in worship.
-
Worship God – By singing songs of praise to Him!
Ages: 2nd through 6th grades
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 6:40 p.m.

If you sing in the shower, in the car or behind the house, come and sing with one of our music groups. Adults of all ages and singing abilities are encouraged to join one of our music groups. There are no tryouts. The choir assists in leading our congregation during the worship liturgy and learns beautiful choir anthems that praise our Lord. Meet new friends or greet old acquaintances as you share God’s gift of voice.
