Maple Grove Lutheran Church
Celebrates 25 Years!
The idea of MGLC began in 1983 with a handful of Christians who met in a Maple Grove park and wondered, "What if we started a church?"
Since that gathering in the park, MGLC held its first organizational meeting for the congregation on June 12, 1983. Formal worship services and the educational program began in September, 1983.
Twenty-five years later we enter twenty-five weeks of celebration beginning April 20 and culminating with a congregational dinner and program on October 12.
Plan to participate in all the festive, commemorative activities. Together, let’s celebrate our 25th anniversary as we anticipate an exciting future and continued growth in our faith.
Rooted in Faith…Growing in Grace
The 25th Anniversary Committee has chosen these words as a reminder of our mission for the last 25 years and an invitation for the future!
In honor of the anniversary, we invite you to take some time in each of the next 25 weeks to renew yourself in the Word. One way to do this is to commit parts of the Bible to memory. Shelley Halverson has compiled a list of Bible verses for all agesAll family members can work together to commit the Scripture passages to memory. In the space provided on the list, sign and date each verse memorized; keep this through the summer. We will ask about it in the fall!
Some tips for Bible memory work:
Post the list on the refrigerator.
Read the passage several times per day; on the third day try to say it for
memory—and keep repeating it aloud several times per day all week.
Think about what this Scripture passage means to you and how it can impact
your life as you travel on your journey.
Make a copy to post on the car visor, bathroom mirror, beside the telephone,
or alongside your computer for a constant reminder.
Try to also learn the Bible reference for each verse.
Write it down several times; writing helps your brain with memory.
Keep repeating those verses previously learned each week to keep them in your
mind and heart.
Make it a family activity or game with appropriate challenges for all!
Many seriously ill people have said that those Bible passages in their memories and in their hearts have helped them in their daily challenges; the verses are there for constant reflection and comfort. When we have planted the roots of faith, we do experience the gifts of grace!
