Discipleship for Children

Empowering our MGLC youth to “live the Word” by helping them learn about the Bible, grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, and provide opportunities to serve.

Children

Musical Theatre Camp (formerly called 'Fish Tales')
In Acorns to Oaks, kids will learn that the best way to produce the fruit God desires in their lives is to plant their roots firmly in God's Word. Our time together will result in a choreographed 40-minute musical production that we will perform Thursday evening, August 14th, at 7:00pm. Along with learning the music and choreography we will attend the Farm Festival to play games, the Bible Garden for activities and crafts and have lots of fun on the farm. Be sure to invite your friends to join us for this fun-filled camp. No experience required! Open to MGLC members and non-members who have finished 1st-6th grades.

Sunday, August 10 from 6-8pm and August 11-14 from 9am-2pm

Register by June 30; Space is limited

New! Fireflies Children's Club
Mary and Curt Grimley are planning for the new children’s club this Fall: Fireflies written by a friend of Shelley Halverson’s over 30 years ago. It compliments the Church School material and is something the children can work on at home with their parent’s help.

This two-part program includes Bible Memory and Bible Study. Children as young as two years old can memorize Scripture. There are seven levels of memory verses (3 sets of 12 verses) for small children ages 2-6 years old; and seven levels of memory verses (3 sets of 15) for the children in grades 2-6.

Once a child is able to read and write, they are ready for Bible Study. Each of the 20 series has eight pages. When a student completes a series, it is  corrected by one of our friendly Firefly team members.

We believe children should get a Bible at a young age and highlight each verse they  learn. Every time they open their Bible the highlighted verses are like a refresher course on God’s Word. When children are familiar with their Bible, they become more confident reading it.

Loving hands and hearts needed...

Verse Listener: Children will come and recite verse to the listener who is also an encourager.

Bible Study Series Corrector: This can be done at home, and brought back to coordinator.

Materials Coordinator and Collator: Keep track of material children will need to take home. Once they are copied assemble the Bible Study booklets and file the Memory Verse pages.

Prayer Warrior: Each child is assigned an adult to pray for them. This relationship could go for years until the child is beyond 6th grade. For more information, contact Mary at 763-424-2782.

Kids make a difference with Church School!
As a church school teacher last year, I was so proud of our 3rd and 4th graders!  When we looked back on the year, we reflected on how these kids had served as the ‘hands and feet of God’ in our community and beyond. Using the Akaloo curriculum as a starting point, we planned several projects to give us ways to serve God.

In October we honored St. Francis, Patron Saint of the Animals, by making homemade dog biscuits and fleece kitty blankets and brought them to the animal rescue agency Homeward Bound.

In February we made a homemade spaghetti dinner and chocolate chip cookies to take to a congregation member coping with chemotherapy.

In March we served our fellow church school children in hosting an Easter party for all the Monday night kids.

In April we took our class to Feed My Starving Children and packaged meals together to be sent to children overseas.

Finally, in May we served God at church by planting the pansies you see on the front porch of the church.

In doing all these projects, it was heartwarming to see the smiles and teamwork of the servants (us) and to hope that those receiving our efforts would be reminded of God’s love as shown to them by these wonderful children!
