Neighborhood Shepherding Group Program

Most neighborhood shepherding groups have met and have enjoyed getting to know one another. Through the phone contacts, we learned of members in need of assistance from the church, and we were able to show support and encouragement.

Through quarterly phone contacts and biannual gatherings, the shepherding program is connecting families in ways that build community, care and support within our congregation. Thank you to all of the group leaders and participants for getting the program off to a good start.

The Neighborhood Shepherding program locates our member households into 37 geographic areas. The purpose of the program is to build community and foster communication within our congregation. The Neighborhood Shepherding program is one important way we can maintain a sense of community in a large congregation.

We strongly encourage you, along with all our members, to participate in the shepherding program by getting to know and care for your fellow MGLC members living in your area. This program is a wonderful opportunity for our congregation to be well connected and cared for as we “build a community of faith.”

You may have seen the maps in Fellowship Hall, which identifies where Maple Grove Lutheran member families live.

The member families are broken down into geographical areas.

Each geographical area is a group and has 8 to 15 households in it. You may already know all of your “neighbors” that attend MGLC, but you may be surprised to see who lives down the street from you. This is a great way to connect our church family.

The groups meet at least two times per year.

If you have questions about Neighborhood Shepherding Groups, please contact a coordination team member: Dave and Mary Beth Wall, Shelly Halverson, Kevin and Debbie Kropp, or Mary Monge thru the church office.
