Lead Pastor Durk Peterson

I love serving our Lord, Jesus Christ as a pastor at MGLC! 

I began my call as Lead Pastor in April of 2003. My primary role is leading our excellent staff and working closely with the church council leadership, worship, personnel, stewardship, outreach, operations, and the foundation.

I grew up in Kenyon, Minnesota and graduated from St. Olaf College and The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, Illinois. Ordained in 1989, I’ve served congregations in Burlington and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as Brooklyn Center and Hopkins, Minnesota. My wife Susan and I were married in 1985. We are blessed with two awesome children - Laura, 15 years old and Eric, 13 years old. 

When I’m not at church I swim laps at a local pool and love to read biographies and novels. I also love spending time with my family and going to our children’s many activities. We love living in Maple Grove and feel our community is very blessed with a high quality of life.

What most energizes me here at MGLC is evangelism - meeting and talking with people about Jesus Christ and welcoming new members into the life of our congregation. If you really want my eyes to light up and heart to be set on fire, just bring a friend to worship!
