Rev. Christine E. Chiles graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from
Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, in June 2003. She trained as an
Intern Chaplain at University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview in the
spring of 2001, and served her internship year at Woodlake Lutheran Church
in Richfield, Minnesota in 2001-02. Pastor Chris had the good fortune to
combine ministry with the beautiful north woods as a summer chaplain for
Bethlehem and Trinity Lutheran Churches in Grand Marais and Hovlund in 2000.
Previously, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Service from
Pennsylvania State University, and a Master of Public Administration from
Temple University. She served as a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA), in Raleigh, North Carolina; then as a housing program administrator for the
City of Dallas, Texas. Pastor Chris is married to husband James Chiles; they
are parents to three sons, Ben, Jeff and Kevin. She received a call to
serve as Associate Pastor at Maple Grove Lutheran Church in March 2004.
Pastor Chris is a huge Twins fan, as you might guess looking at the Twins banners covering the wall in her office. Each year, she and her sister buy a 20 game ticket package. She said, "I admit the Twins have made their way into one sermon illustration and several Children’s Messages. Talking about the Twins is also a fun and easy conversation starter with people I visit."
